Option NV (EURONEXT Brussels:OPTI) (OTC:OPNVY), a wireless technology company, has announced that Compal Electronics (Taiwan:2324.tw) has selected its embedded wireless modules and Linux-based connection management software.

The software will be used by Compal Electronics to provide HSPA 3G connectivity to its range of new Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs). This includes an MID that features a retractable keyboard, integrated multimedia player, GPS and access to the Internet.

Option has developed special software for the MIDs, which is based on Intel Centrino Atom processor technology. Currently, Option and Compal are working together in an attempt to get certification and operator validation for the device in various markets.

A Developers' Kit based on Option's GTM501 wireless module has been assembled by the company, which should provide original device manufacturers (ODMs) with the ability to develop 3G connectivity solutions for MIDs and similar products.

No details of the contract value were given.
