Verizon Wireless, an operator of a wireless voice and data network and a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) and Vodafone (NYSE:VOD) (LSE: VOD), announced on Wednesday (27 August) that the company has activated a new cell site in Wilton county, Connecticut, New England, USA.

The new site reportedly increases wireless voice and data coverage and capacity along Route 33 in Wilton, Connecticut as well as the surrounding area.

Verizon said that the company has invested over USD100m during the first six months of 2008 in the expansion and enhancement of its wireless network in New England.

As a result of these investments, every Verizon Wireless cell site in New England reportedly provides wireless broadband connectivity.
