Network technology company Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris:ALU) (NYSE:ALU) and Dassault Aviation, a French aircraft manufacturer and a subsidiary of Dassault Group, announced on Friday (19 December) they have signed a definitive agreement regarding the acquisition by Dassault Aviation of Alcatel-Lucent's shares in Thales, a provider of mission-critical information systems, amounting to 41,262,481 shares.

According to the companies, the transaction will be based on a price of EUR38 per share, representing a total value of approximately EUR1.57bn.
The closing of the transaction is foreseen for spring 2009, subject to regulatory and administrative approvals.
