A contract to provide voice, BlackBerry and other mobile data services to users in the UK and Ireland has been awarded to mobile communications company O2 (UK) Ltd (O2) by Saint-Gobain, an industrial corporation.

O2 said around 6,000 connections will be transferred to the company as a result of the agreement. It confirmed it will work closely with Saint-Gobain to understand the challenges which the business faces and to identify potential mobile solutions, including field force communication applications.

According to O2, it will review various applications with Saint-Gobain in order to continue to help and improve the company's business processes and efficiencies.

Saint-Gobain reportedly evaluated a number of mobile sector suppliers in 2007 before selecting O2 for the high quality of service provisioning, efficiency and network technology O2 offered.
