TELECOMWORLDWIRE-7 February 2008-Cambridge Broadband Networks awarded contract by Wana(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Moroccan telecomms operator Wana has awarded Cambridge Broadband Networks, a provider of carrier-class wireless point-to-multipoint transmission equipment, a contract for the provision of its VectaStar transmission platform.

According to the company, Wana is using VectaStar to backhaul multiple services including corporate access and CDMA cellular traffic with WiMAX set to follow later in 2008. The network will simultaneously operate on two frequency bands, 3.5 and 10.5GHz.

VectaStar radio plane architecture reportedly features statistical multiplexing, allowing the solution to carry four times the data of any competing system in the same over-the-air bandwidth, ensuring Wana can cope with the diverse access and backhaul requirements of the mixed, CDMA, enterprise and WiMAX services the company intends to deploy over it.

No financial details were disclosed.
