Telecomworldwire, Feb 7, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-7 February 2008-Foundry's NetIron MLX metro routers deployed by Telstra Europe(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

NetIron MLX metro routers from Foundry Networks Inc (Nasdaq:FDRY) (Foundry), an end-to-end switching and routing solutions provider, have been deployed across the UK IP network of Telstra Europe, a provider of data, voice, managed network and hosting solutions and the European arm of global B2B communications services provider Telstra International.

Foundry said it worked with Foundry reseller, Matrix Communications, to install highly resilient NetIron MLX metro routers throughout Telstra Europe's UK network Points-of-Presence (PoPs).

According to Foundry, the NetIron MLX Series provides wire-speed, low latency and low jitter routing and switching for IPv4, IPv6, MPLS and MPLS VPN services and lowers capital and operational expenditure, helping to boost profitability. It consists of 4, 8, 16 and 32-slot platforms delivering up to 3.2Tb/s data capacity and around 2bn Bp/s of packet forwarding performance per system and reportedly provides carrier grade 'five nines' availability.

The company confirmed that all Telstra Europe's Ethernet-based customers will be connected to the NetIron MLX's which are linked to its core routers, with most of Telstra's PoPs connected by 10Gb/s fibre rings. Foundry claimed its FastIron SX Layer 2/3 switches have been bought for use for network management in Telstra Europe's hosting centres.
