Swedish-Finnish telecomms operator TeliaSonera AB said on Tuesday (29 January) that it has directly and via its subsidiary Fintur closed two transactions in Eurasia, in order to streamline ownership structures and to strengthen its positions and influence in the Georgian and Uzbek markets.
Fintur Holdings B.V. (Fintur), 74%-owned by TeliaSonera, has finalised an acquisition of an additional 14.3% interest in Geocell LLC (Geocell) for a total cash consideration of approximately SEK210m.

The acquisition increases Fintur's ownership in Geocell to 97.5% from 83.2%, the company added.
In addition, TeliaSonera has finalised the negotiations to introduce a local partner to its Uzbekistan mobile operator OOO Coscom, and sold 26% of its 100% ownership for a cash consideration of approximately SEK320m. (USD 50 million).
