New Nikon digital SLR available

Telecomworldwire,  July 1, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-1 July 2008-New Nikon digital SLR available(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Nikon Inc, a subsidiary of the Nikon Corporation (OSA:7731) (TYO:7731), today (1 July) released the new Nikon D700 FX-format D-SLR camera.

The camera can deliver an effective resolution of 12.1 megapixels from Nikon's FX-format CMOS sensor, which at 23.9mm x 36mm is nearly the size of 35mm film. Incorporating Nikon's EXPEED Image Processing System, a 51-point focussing system with 3D Focus Tracking and two Live View shooting modes, the camera is designed for the advanced enthusiast or professional photographer.

Featuring a three inch LCD screen for image framing, the company's Scene Recognition System and an active dust reduction system, Nikon claims the new camera maintains the standards achieved by its flagship D3 and D300 cameras with high image quality, broad tonal range and low noise throughout the ISO 200 to 6400 range.

Using the optional MB-D10 Multi Power Battery Pack, up to 8 frames per second can be captured (5 frames per second using internal power), with the data written via high speed interfaces to the UDMA standard CompactFlash memory card.

The camera (body only) will retail at an estimated USD2,999 and will be available in US retail outlets at the end of July.
