TELECOMWORLDWIRE-16 July 2008-Sony announces 80GB PlayStation 3(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc (SCEA), a supplier of gaming consoles, announced on 16 July the availability of a new version of its PlayStation 3 (PS3) console with an 80GB internal hard disk.
The console remains unchanged except for the larger hard disk and will become the mainstay of the company's hardware range, retailing at the same price as the older 40GB model.
SCEA also announced the availability of two new bundles for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) and the PlayStation2 (PS2) consoles. The PSP bundle comes with a limited edition 'Silver' PSP, a game, a movie in Universal Media Disk (UMD) format, a 1GB memory stick and a voucher redeemable on Sony's Playstation Network and will sell for USD199 targeted at holiday gift-giving.
The PS2 bundle includes a console, a game (LEGO Batman:The Video Game) and a DVD movie and will retail at USD149. Further titles for all consoles are either under development or due to be released within the next year. Sony also intends to continue to expand the range of offers and the features available via the PlayStation Network. One of the new features will be available immediately, allowing American PSP and PS3 users to download full length movies and TV shows either for rental or for purchase.
