Sony have unveiled a new range of multimedia notebook PCs in its new VAIO FW range which will go on sale late in July.
Features vary across the range but Sony have announced details of the premium model, which will feature a 16.4" widescreen display, a Blu-ray Disc (BD) player and HDMI output, XBRTE-HiColor LCD technology and the new Intel Centrino 2 chipset.

The model will allow users to play BD movies in full 1080 resolution when displayed on an HDTV connected to the notebook or the user can take advantage of the notebook screen's widescreen format which allows movies shot in a 16:9 aspect ratio to be properly displayed.
The VAIO FW has an array of slots and ports that accommodate most standard connections and is supplied with Sony Vaio multimedia applications for sound and video display and editing. Selected units come with Windows Vista Ultimate pre-installed.
The VAIO FW Series weighs in at just over six pounds and retail prices start from USD1,000.
