Communications solutions provider Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris: ALU) (NYSE: ALU) announced on Tuesday (1 July) that JSC Halyk Bank, a general-purpose bank in the Republic of Kazakhstan, has selected the latest Alcatel-Lucent IP/MPLS portfolio to build a Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based network for its subsidiary JSC Kazteleport.

According to Alcatel-Lucent, its Ethernet and IP/MPLS solutions enables JSC Kazteleport to offer reliable communication services such as Virtual Leased Lines (VLL) and Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) to its business customers, mainly banks. In addition, the newly built network forms the platform for future services.
Under the terms of the contract, Alcatel-Lucent installed Alcatel-Lucent 7750 and 7710 Service Routers, Alcatel-Lucent 7250 Service Access Switch for the backbone network and Alcatel-Lucent 7450 Ethernet Service Switch (ESS), which provided scalable Ethernet/MPLS aggregation resulting in high bandwidth for high-speed Internet, video and voice services.
No financial details of the contract were disclosed.
