Telecomworldwire, July 2, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-2 July 2008-China's Ministry of Water Resources opts for Nortel IP communications system(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

After a two year evaluation period, China's Ministry of Water Resources (MWR) selected Nortel to supply a converged communications platform enabling MWR to implement IP-based voice, data, video and collaborative services between its branch offices.

MWR covers 31 provinces in China and 7 major river basins. The new service is built on top of combined IP PBX and soft switch architecture, delivering all MWR's requirements in one unified platform that allowed the Ministry to reduce its network construction costs and ongoing maintenance costs.

Based around Nortel's Communications Server 1000 (CS 1000), a multi-featured IP PBX that can support up to 22,500 simultaneous IP users, and Nortel's Multimedia Communications Server 5100 (MCS 5100), a SIP-based application delivery solution that can deliver IP telephony, multimedia conferencing, instant messaging, presence and other collaboration tools to a broad range of devices, the network will give MWR the capacity it requires to support the demands on its resources.
