Global Crossing will provide an additional audio and video feed link between Rio de Janeiro and New York for Eurovision, a department of the European Broadcasting Union. Eurovision operates a worldwide platform specialising in delivering news and sports coverage to the international broadcast market.

The feed to Brazil will be active during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The contract, announced on the 2 July, involves expanding Eurovision's existing Private Line Services to accommodate the additional audio visual content expected during the Games.

Global Crossings Private Line Services support high bandwidth operations with capacities ranging from T1/E1 to OC-48/STM-16.

No financial details of the agreement were released.
