Comstar UTS (Comstar) (LSE:CMST), an integrated telecomms operator in Russia and the CIS, announced on 3 July that it has completed a 3 year project to implement Oracle's E-business Suite. The full-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system cost Comstar USD12m.

Introduction of the ERP system began in 2005 with the first stage, including contract management, procurement payments and other treasury functions, being implemented by 2006. The second stage of the roll out started in August 2006 and involved the automation of financial, tax and accounting management, replacement of legacy IT systems and the introduction of unified accounting and management data to the centralised Oracle database.

Over 500 Comstar employees were trained to work the new system by the prime contractors for the project, Kvazar-Micro (now renamed as SITRONICS Information Technologies).

The full Oracle E-business Suite ERP system as implemented comprises the Oracle Purchasing, Oracle Account Payables, Oracle Warehouse Management, Oracle Treasury, Oracle Projects, Oracle Fixed Assets, Oracle General Ledger and Oracle Financial Consolidation Hub modules.
