Huawei to deploy WiMAX Network for Mobilink in Pakistan

Telecomworldwire, July 3, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-3 July 2008-Huawei to deploy WiMAX Network for Mobilink in Pakistan(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Huawei Technologies Co Ltd (Huawei), a telecommunications network solutions provider, announced today (1 July) that it has been selected by Pakistani mobile operator Mobilink to deploy a commercial WiMAX 16e network, which will cover central business districts and hot spots in the country's six major cities.

The contract means that Huawei will provide Mobilink with a complete network to help meet Pakistan's increasing broadband needs. The network will include distributed base stations, an access service network-Gateway and a network management system.

Due to Pakistan's land ownership laws, WiMAX is the most cost effective and the quickest way to implement high speed internet access to subscribers in the country. Huawei's 4G mobile WiMAX technologies will provide Mobilink with quality mobile coverage and multi-modal platforms to integrate with Mobilink's existing 2G network in the shortest possible time.
