Qwest Communications (NYSE:Q), a provider of a combination of broadband, video and voice solutions, announced on Monday (7 July) that the company's technology solutions kept the network of Mercy Medical Centre, located in Iowa, USA intact during flooding.

Mercy uses Qwest iQ Networking services to connect voice and data communications for the hospital's 20-location network.

Qwest said that the company's advanced technology, and the rapid deployment of technicians on the ground to assist with relocation during the flooding, helped all of Mercy's facilities maintain communications and access to vital databases during the evacuation of the main hospital.

As a result, patient care proceeded with minimal interruption and contact was maintained with patients' families, emergency personnel and city officials, the company said.

Qwest said that its technicians worked around the clock to keep Qwest's business and residential customer operations intact using solutions and teamwork.
