Technology company Sun Microsystems, Inc (NASDAQ:JAVA) announced on Monday (7 July) that Java Platform Micro Edition (Java ME) is integrated in the new HP iPAQ 900 series Business Messenger smartphone from IT company HP (NYSE:HPQ).

According to the company, Sun Engineering Services delivered the Java ME binary implementation customised to a specific feature set requested by HP. The Sun Java Wireless Client software integrates with the Windows Mobile 6.1 native user interface, enabling customers to view e-mail in the original HTML format or access contact information through a familiar operating environment.

The new HP iPAQ 900 series Business Messenger reportedly features the new Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and wireless technologies including tri-band UMTS/HSDPA, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It delivers mobile e-mail, voice and access to business-critical applications.
