Deloitte selects Nortel to provide teleconferencing service

Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Deloitte), a Swiss Verein comprising of international financial services companies, have selected Nortel, a network soltutions company, to supply managed teleconferencing and video conferencing services and associated multimedia services.

The agreement will see Nortel supplying to up to 130 of Deloitte's member firms with the ability to teleconference and video conference. Managed telepresence is a cost effective alternative to physical travel, and with the cost of, and increasing demand for environmental responsibility, it is becoming more and more attractive for firms like Deloitte, according to Nortel.

Nortel calculate that a company spending USD23m on business travel annually could save up to USD7m, recover as many as 385,000 hours of lost productivity and reduce the carbon footprint by 4,200 tons if it adopted telepresence throughout its operations.

Nortel did not disclose financial details of the Deloitte agreement.
