Universal Music Group, a global music distributor, and Last.fm, a website providing free access to music tracks and videos, have announced a partnership which will make UMG's catalogue available on Last.fm's website.
Artists included in UMG's catalogue include Jay-Z, Nirvana, Amy Winehouse, The Killers, Duffy, Snow Patrol and Kanye West. Artists will receive revenue for each video streamed to a Last.fm user, with the site generating revenue by displaying advertising on the page alongside the videos.

The Last.fm site is backed by the Audioscobbler system, which tracks a user's listening habits and makes recommendations based on the music the user has listened to.
During the first month of the agreement with UMG, Last.fm will be highlighting the UMG catalogue exclusively on its website.
