TELECOMWORLDWIRE-24 June 2008-3CX develops new version of software PBX(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
3CX, a developer of telecomms software, announced on 24 June that version 6.0 of its 3CX Phone System is now available. The software-based PBX system has been developed to add Windows 2008 support, together with other new features.
3CX said in the announcement that they had managed to take only 20 weeks to add the new features to the application and contrasted the rapid development of this version with the time it would take to develop similar features on a hardware-based PBX.

The software is available in four editions with all editions supporting an unlimited number of extensions. However, the Free Edition can only support eight simultaneous calls, while at the other end of the range the Enterprise edition can support up to 32 simultaneous calls. Additional call capacity can be added with upgrade packs.
The Windows 2008 support means that operators can virtualise the PBX enabling them to run the PBX without the need for extra hardware. The new version also adds support for call conferencing with up to 32 participants, paging, intercom calls, Vegastream gateways and a fax server.
The system also has enhanced SIP interoperability, a phonebook, BLF lights for status indication of extensions and an extended HTTP API allowing recording to be switched on/off, extensions to be disabled and outgoing calls to be barred for an extension.
3CX did not release price details.
