TELECOMWORLDWIRE-24 June 2008-BTI adds packetVX modules to BTI 7000 series(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

BTI Systems, a supplier of packet optical edge equipment for use on gigabyte services, announced on 24 June that it has introduced a range of packetVX Integrated Ethernet Service Modules for its BTI 7000 series.

The modules, designed to meet the needs of operators servicing the increasing demand from bandwidth-hungry applications, converge Ethernet connectivity with WDM networking.

Integration of Layer 2 switching and aggregation with WDM transport in the modules offers increased efficiencies, reduces port requirements and can reduce the hardware required for a network. Ethernet Linear Protection Scheme (ITU-T G.8031) and Ethernet Ring Protection Scheme (ITU-T G.8032) protection mechanisms provide carrier-graded resilience.

The three modules available include between 12 and 24 GbE ports, with either two or four 10GbE ports. No pricing details were announced.
