Ascom Wireless Solutions, part of wireless communications equipment manufacturer the Ascom Group (SWX:ASCN), announced on 24 June the release of a new handset, the Ascom i75 Messenger.

The WiFi based handset combines messaging, telephony and push-to-talk capabilities. It is equipped to communicate with a wide range of sources, including building management systems, hospital systems and production systems and is designed for use in office, hospitality, retail and industrial environments.

The i75 Virtual SIM-card allows a user's profile to be rapidly transferred to another handset. Loaded with the correct application, the handset can act as a remote control or as a means of providing on the spot instructions for workers when connected to a work assignment database.
