Digium Inc, an open source telephony company, and Critical Links, a networking technology company, announced on Tuesday (24 June) that Digium will be the exclusive vendor of Asterisk-compatible analog and digital PCI and PCIe telephony boards for Critical Links' edgeBOX product line.

Digium is the creator of Asterisk, an open source telephony software deployed by more than 4m servers worldwide to manage voice over IP (VoIP) calls for businesses and individuals. Asterisk powers the company's family of software and hardware appliances, including Switchvox, Asterisk Business Edition and AsteriskNOW.

Critical Links has reportedly tested Digium boards to ensure compatibility with edgeBOX and chose Digium over other competitors.

According to the company, the partnership includes analog telephony cards (4-, 8- and 24-part analog cards) and digital telephony cards (single-, dual- and quad-span T1/E1 cards and ISDN BRI cards).

No financial details were disclosed.
