Navega.com selects Tellabs to upgrade networks

Tellabs (Nasdaq:TLAB), a provider of solutions for telecomms networks, announced on Tuesday (24 June) that Navega.com, a provider of networks for voice and adapt services, has chosen the company to advance its network in Central America.

Navega.com is upgrading to an IP/MPLS (Internet Protocol/MultiProtocol Label Switching) network powered by the Tellabs 8600 managed edge system. The upgrade is expected to benefit Navega.com by boosting network capacity and allowing it to accommodate new customers. It is also expected to reduce capital and operating costs and scale the network affordably.

In addition the upgrade will support 2G, 3G and 4G mobile transport, deliver Ethernet and IP VPN (virtual private network) services.

Financial details were not available.
