Voltaire switches certified for IBM Cluster 1350

Telecomworldwire, June 27, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-27 June 2008-Voltaire switches certified for IBM Cluster 1350(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Voltaire Ltd (Nasdaq:VOLT), an Israeli developer and manufacturer of network switching equipment and software, announced on 27 June that its Grid Director 20 Gb/s switches have been added to the IBM Cluster 1359 solutions portfolio.

The Cluster 1350 portfolio includes support for IBM's new iDataPlex server system, which is designed for customers with constraints in power, cooling or physical space.

Voltaire Grid Detector switches provide customers with high-bandwidth Infiniband connectivity and low latencies allowing high-demand applications to run in a distributed environment much faster than over an Ethernet network. The lower power and cooling requirements of the Voltaire switches also complements the design philosophies behind the iDataPlex server systems.

The Grid Detectors switches, which have been available since 2004, range in size from 24 ports for smaller clusters to 288 ports for large scale environments. Grid Detector 20 Gb/s switches are part of IBM's BladeCentre product portfolio.
