AT&T to shift corporate headquarters to Dallas

US communications holding company AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) announced on Friday (27 June) that the company will be moving its corporate headquarters to Dallas, Texas.

According to AT&T the move from its existing headquarters in San Antonio to Dallas will give the company better access to its customers and operations throughout the world, and also to its key technology partners, suppliers, innovation and human resources.

The move to Dallas will place AT&T's corporate headquarters near many of its key technology suppliers and other telecomms companies, including Alcatel-Lucent, Cisco, Ericsson, Fujitsu, Huawei, Nokia, Nortel, RIM and Samsung.

The move, which is expected to involve about 700 of the company's nearly 6,000 San Antonio-based employees, will begin in the coming weeks and is expected to be completed around the end of 2008.

AT&T said that its Telecom Operations group, which serves residential and regional business customers in 22 US states, will remain in San Antonio.
