US communications holding company AT&T Inc (NYSE:T) announced on Friday (27 June) that the company is expanding its network in the Rochester area of New York.
AT&T plans to invest USD80m in the upstate/western New York area this year, which will reportedly bring the planned four-year territory investment total to over USD250m.
Under the 2008 investment plan AT&T will activate more than 50 new cell sites in upstate. The company has already activated new sites this year in Bethany, Leroy and Webster.

AT&T also plans to more than double the size of its high-speed mobile broadband footprint in Monroe County. The company's broadband footprint will be extended east into Wayne County, southeast into Ontario County, southwest into Livingston County (including SUNY Geneseo), and northwest to cover the rest of Monroe County, including SUNY Brockport, later on this summer.
