Micronas presents MAP-M ASIC audio solution

Telecomworldwire,  June 30, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-30 June 2008-Micronas presents MAP-M ASIC audio solution(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Micronas (SWX:MASN), an application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) manufacturer, has presented the MAP-M and integrated single-chip audio processor designed for the soundbar market.

Soundbars are wide, thin speakers intended for use with flat screen display devices such as flat-panel TVs. The space restrictions in such devices make them unsuitable for normal speakers. Soundbars range from 2-speaker devices up to 32 speaker beam forming arrays that can direct and shape the sound they produce.

MAP-M can provide a single chip solution for OEMs where current systems can use up to 5 separate ICs for the same purpose. The chip provides all standard interfaces and can be loaded with a range of royalty free audio processing technologies or with third party post-processing technologies. In addition, in-built capabilities can compensate for video processing latencies to sync sound to video.

MAP-M is in full production and samples and evaluation kits are available.
