SKY Computers Inc (Sky), a supplier of high performance embedded systems, has released TimeTrac, an optimisation and profiling tool for Linux multiprocessor or multi-core applications.

SKY developed the software for internal use, to assist developers to fine tune and debug real-time applications intended to run on multiple processors or multi-core computers. The software can deal with systems running on up to hundreds of processors.

TimeTrac can be used to instrument an application so that the developer can collect and analyse performance data. Using the data the developer can eliminate race conditions and analyse event relationships, verifying correct program operation. Rare conditions can be isolated in a fraction of the time normally taken for these hard-to-diagnose problems.
