Utimaco, a British developer of MS Active Directory management software, has announced an expansion of version 5.3 of its flagship SafeGuard Enterprise product. The addition of a management API to the application will increase the efficiency and ease of integration of the product.

The API will allow administrators to script and automate time-consuming, periodic or cumbersome administrative tasks. Scripts can be supplied to customers by Utimaco, or by its partners, saving administrators valuable time and resources.

In addition, the API will enable Utimaco's partners to automate and script the integration of the product into a customer's existing infrastructure, allowing the partners to gain extra revenue from the integration projects.

SafeGuard Enterprise 5.3 central management API automates tasks such as directory operations and data import from Active Directory, user-/machine assignment, key assignment to user-/machine, certificate and token management, log- inventory- and report-processing and challenge/response helpdesk.
