SAVVIS Inc (NASDAQ: SVVS), a provider of IT infrastructure services for business applications, announced on 9 June that it has extended, by one year, its master services agreement with Thomson Reuters, supplier of market data services. The agreement includes the deployment of IT infrastructure services in Asia.

It was reported that Thomson Reuters has attained customers in 93 countries and 50,000 employees worldwide since Thomson Corporation and Reuters Group PLC merged to create the business early this year. A substantial part of its revenue is obtained from electronic products, software and services.

SAVVIS will continue to provide managed hosting and managed network solutions supporting a range of Thomson Reuters products and services, as an approved vendor, under terms of the agreement.

Managed hosting services that underpin the flagship website http://ThomsonReuters.com, along with management of IT infrastructure solutions required for the collection of exchange data for Thomson Reuters market data services worldwide, is included in the agreement.

In addition, managed hosting services will be delivered from SAVVIS' data centre in Singapore, which will underpin Thomson Reuters business development in Asia. According to both companies, the extension of the agreement presents opportunities to enhance further cost and operational benefits through virtualised hosting and global VPN services.
