Huawei Technologies (Huawei), a provider of next generation telecomms network solutions, has been selected by China Unicom, a service provider in China, to deploy and upgrade its CDMA network, which incorporates over 1600 carrier frequencies.

Huawei said it will provide an end-to-end All IP solution, to include radio access equipment and core network, under the terms of the agreement. It claimed the solution will enable the provision of voice and data service with improved performance and broader coverage, while boosting the network.

According to Huawei, its technology will enable a simplified network structure, reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO) for the customer, while supporting its evolution to CDMA 1x EV-DO.

The network covers Tianjin City in North China, which is the cooperation city of the 2008 Olympic Games.
