PlateSpin acquisition completed by Novell

Telecomworldwire,  March 31, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-31 March 2008-PlateSpin acquisition completed by Novell(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

The acquisition of PlateSpin Ltd, a provider of workload lifecycle management solutions for the enterprise data centre, has been completed by Novell Inc (Nasdaq:NOVL), a company providing an interoperable Linux platform and integrated IT management software.

PlateSpin enables workloads to move between physical and virtual environments regardless of operating system or platform. Novell said these capabilities, combined with its systems management solutions, allow customers to fully use their virtualisation investments and lower costs and server sprawl in data centres.

Novell confirmed the addition of PlateSpin to its current enterprise IT management and Linux solutions will provide customers with the capabilities needed to establish next-generation data centres. It said customers will gain solutions for data centre consolidation, relocation, virtualisation, disaster recovery and ongoing optimisation, providing them with the technology to minimise risk, lower cost and create value across heterogeneous environments.

PlateSpin will become part of the Novell Systems and Resource Management business unit upon closing of the acquisition, and continue to develop and market its solutions on a global basis.
