FalconStor Software Inc (NASDAQ: FALC), which develops, manufactured and sells network storage software solutions and provides related maintenance, implementation and engineering services, revealed yesterday (5 March) that to distribute FalconStor storage virtualisation and data protection appliances to the mid-market, it has partnered with Total Tec Systems, a systems integrator.

Total Tec Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bell Microproducts (NASDAQ: BELM), will do the integration of the FalconStor Virtual Tape Library (VTL) Storage Appliances with embedded data de-duplication, the FalconStor Continuous Data Protector (CDP) Storage Appliances and the FalconStor Network Storage Server (NSS) Appliances at its Edison, New Jersey integration facility and then distribute them for environments using HP servers and HP storage.

The FalconStor VTL support both physical tape drives and virtual tape libraries and integrate with the FalconStor VTL Enterprise Edition, allowing remote offices to replicate virtual tapes over the WAN to the corporate data centre for centralised management or compliance. FalconStor CDP provides data protection and continuous availability across both physical and virtual systems, eliminating backup windows and the need for mandatory restores, to give business continuity. The FalconStor NSS Appliances deliver iSCSI or Fibre Channel storage and models include Falcons or TimeMark snapshot capabilities for recovery.

FalconStor CDP and VTL will be offered by Total Tec for VMware Virtual Infrastructure. The FalconStor VTL and the FalconStor CDP are both packaged with the operating system inside a virtual machine running under VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3, pre-configured and ready-to-run software applications.
