100 satellite terminals have been deployed by The International Telecommunication Union after Cyclone Nargis hit Myanmar on 2 May 2008.

The cyclone has destroyed the infrastructure of Yangon and the Irrawaddy delta region with thousands of dead, injured and missing and rescue operations were being constrained by the lack of communication links.

The company is providing Thuraya hand-held satellite phones and Inmarsat Global Area Network (GAN) terminals which use both satellite and GSM networks and also provide accurate GPS positioning coordinates.
