TELECOMWORLDWIRE-19 May 2008-Sistema receives radio frequencies in two further Indian circles(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Sistema (LSE:SSA), a public diversified corporation in Russia and the CIS, has confirmed it has received radio frequencies in two further circles in India.

The company, which manages fast growing companies operating in the consumer services sector, said the 800MHz radio frequencies have been allocated by the Department of Telecommunications of India. The frequencies are allocated in two Indian circles, Maharashtra and Kerala, to Sistema's subsidiary, Shyam Telelink.

Shyam Telelink now has spectrum in 15 telecomms circles, covering more than 900m people, which comprises about 80% of the Indian population, according to Unstrung. It has reportedly been awarded unified telecomms licences for the provision of fixed-line and cellular services in 21 Indian circles.
