Shopzilla implements F5 Acopia from F5 Networks

Telecomworldwire, May 20, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-20 May 2008-Shopzilla implements F5 Acopia from F5 Networks(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

F5 Networks Inc (Nasdaq:FFIV), an Application Delivery Networking company, announced on Monday (19 May) that Shopzilla, a shopping search site, has deployed F5 Acopia ARX intelligent file virtualisation systems as the foundation of its file storage management strategy.

According to the company, Shopzilla implemented the F5 Acopia ARX system during a major network-attached storage (NAS) upgrade to migrate files without incurring downtime and without the need to manually reconfigure client systems and applications. Once installed, the company began utilising the solution for its global namespace capabilities and data replication.

Currently, the company uses the solution's global namespace capabilities to mask the complexity of the physical file server environment underlying its websites, as well as to optimise the performance for its web visitors. In addition, the ARX systems' data replication capabilities enable Shopzilla to replicate files across heterogeneous storage devices, which means replicas do not have to reside on the same type of storage device as the source files. The replicas can be accessed in a read-only fashion to ensure availability, but can also be promoted to a read/write status in the event of a failure, data loss, or disaster, the company claims.

No financial details were disclosed.
