A 3G handset model is to be jointly procured from mobile phone manufacturer LG Electronics Inc (LG) by Japanese mobile communications company NTT DoCoMo Inc and KT Freetel Co Ltd, a mobile communications service provider in Korea. The companies selected LG's WINE model as a choice suited to users wishing to buy a simple, easy to use, stylish handset.
NTT DoCoMo confirmed it will sell the handset as the FOMA L706ie in Japan from August, while KT Freetel intends to introduce the phone from September, in South Korea.

The project is part of the efforts of the Business & Technology Cooperation Committee, established by the two companies to combine technical and marketing expertise and develop business opportunities while saving costs.
The agreement represents the second joint procurement of the two companies, following the release of an HSDPA data terminal last year as the A2502 HSDPA from NTT DoCoMo and the ADU-620WK from KT Freetel.
