Verizon announces security monitoring and management services for FortiGate

Telecomworldwire,  May 29, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-29 May 2008-Verizon announces security monitoring and management services for FortiGate(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Verizon Business (Verizon), a public IP network operator and unit of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ), has announced that it now offers security monitoring and management services for Fortinet's FortiGate systems, a unified threat management (UTM) platform.

The platform provides a further choice for customers requiring an all-in-one protection for their extended enterprise and is available immediately in the US. Verizon said its most recent option combines firewall, antivirus, anti-spam, virtual private network (VPN), web content filtering and intrusion prevention (IPS) protection into one high-performance appliance.

The Fortinet platform reportedly allows customers to defend against current and emerging network threats cost effectively, without slowing their networks, while providing integrated hardware, software and services to ensure reliable security and high performance. It is suited to mid-sized businesses and enterprises with a remote workforce.

According to Verizon, it works with customers to identify where UTM devices fit into an overall security architecture and which capabilities offer the best business protection, with customers able to have Verizon monitor or manage their UTM devices, or both.
