TELECOMWORLDWIRE-6 May 2008-BT signs eight year WAN outsourcing agreement with Thomson Reuters(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

An eight year outsourcing agreement has been signed by communications solutions and services provider British Telecommunications plc (BT) with Thomson Reuters, a provider of workflow solutions, to manage the wide area network (WAN) element of its internal IT infrastructure.

BT said it will transform the existing Thomson Reuters WAN into a high-speed, IP-based global infrastructure which will incorporate 323 locations across 100 countries, including six applications hosting data centres.

Thomson Reuters confirmed it needed to support its people with an efficient, well managed internal network and claimed the contract will enable it to meet its requirements around the world.

According to BT, it will run non-core, mission-critical network and IT services for the company, enabling Thomson Reuters to concentrate on its core business and customers. It said it has been awarded the new contract for the internal network following a ten year plus agreement with Reuters in 2005 to transform and manage the global network.

No financial details were revealed.
