Telecomworldwire,  May 7, 2008

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-7 May 2008-Verizon to open office in Dubai Internet City(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

Plans to open an office in Dubai Internet City (DIC), a member of TECOM Investments and an ICT cluster in the Middle East, in order to further strengthen the company's service and support capabilities across the Middle East, have been unveiled by Verizon Business (Verizon), a provider of advanced communications and IT solutions and a unit of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ).

Verizon said the office, which will open in June, will provide a local contact in the same regional time zone for the company's multinational customers with operations in the Middle East, along with a base for its ongoing regional expansion plans.

According to Verizon, many customers and partners already have operations within DIC, a information technology park created by the Dubai government as a free economic zone. DIC is seen as a strategic base for companies operating in high-growth economies in the Middle East and North Africa region and reportedly represents the largest ICT enterprise cluster in the region.

Malek Al Malek, executive director of DIC, stated that Verizon's office will open new horizons for the region, enabling it to attract more business interest for the region and forge stronger business partnerships with the company. Verizon claimed the office will improve its on-the-ground service capabilities to help customers attain business aims.
