TELECOMWORLDWIRE-7 May 2008-TynTec selected by PromptSMS for health sector applications(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

PromptSMS, an Australian SMS gateway, has selected TynTec, a mobile messaging services provider, to provide high-reliability messaging for mission critical health sector applications.

TynTec said PromptSMS's clients will be able to use its guaranteed delivery SMS for the emergency alerting of doctors and for patient appointment reminders.

According to TynTec, it offers guaranteed near real-time SMS delivery due to its infrastructure, which is based on deep-level (SS7) telecomms connectivity and proprietary SMS-C. It provides Service Level Agreements on the speed and reliability of its SMS delivery, which it claimed are suitable for use in mission-critical applications, including health care alerts.

PromptSMS confirmed the doctor alerting system is valuable to its emergency call centre clients, enabling them to manage resources cost effectively, without needing to deploy new infrastructure. It said the SMS patient reminders have helped reduce the failure to attend appointments by about 12%.
