TELECOMWORLDWIRE-20 November 2008-Vodacom Tanzania selects AIRCOM to provide network planning(C)1994-2008 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com

AIRCOM International, an independent network planning and optimisation consultancy, announced on Wednesday (19 November) that its work with mobile operator Vodacom Tanzania (Tz) Ltd will help the operator implement a dynamic tariff offering.

Vodacom Tz plans to offer reduced tariffs to take advantage of superfluous cell sites in under-utilised areas of its network.

According to the company, the regional network data produced by AIRCOM's OPTIMA tool has helped set a benchmark for effective operational strategy within the Vodacom Group. Vodacom Tz is using the solution to calculate the amount of discount that can be applied to each cell site in the network and offer a new tariff based on the data produced. As a result, the operator can differentiate its customer offering more effectively.

AIRCOM has also implemented a number of additional network monitoring and optimisation tools into the operator's network. The result is a customised tool suite able to create a common network report for the operator's multi-vendor, multi-technology environment.

Vodacom Tz has been working with AIRCOM since September 2006 and currently uses ASSET, OPTIMA, RANOPT and CONNECT tools from the company's ENTERPRISE tool suite. No financial details were disclosed.
