Verizon Wireless , a provider of wireless voice and data network and a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) and Vodafone (NYSE:VOD) (LSE:VOD), announced on Monday (24 November) that it has activated a new cell site in Windham county, Sterling, Connecticut, USA.

The company said that the new site increases wireless voice and data coverage and capacity along Plainfield Turnpike, Church Street and Main Street in Sterling, Connecticut, as well as the surrounding area.

Verizon said it has invested over USD100m during the first six months of 2008 in expansion of its New England network, as a result of which every Verizon Wireless cell site in New England provides wireless broadband connectivity.
