BT, a UK based telecomms operator, announced on 25 November that, in conjunction with Adidas, it will be supplying free Wi-Fi at the three adiZone's being built around London as part of Adidas' GBP1m sponsorship of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The adiZones, specialised outdoor sports centres, will be multi-sport floodlit areas feature basketball, football and tennis facilities with a climbing wall, outdoor gym and an open space area for dance, aerobics, gymnastics and martial arts. The centres are being built in the London boroughs of Greenwich, Newham and Waltham Forest as part of a drive to encourage sports participation in some of London's most deprived areas.

BT said that in addition to adiZones, BT customers can choose to get online at over 150,000 UK and Ireland locations, including those provided by the BT FON Wi-Fi community, BT Openzone and its roaming partners, plus BT Openzone at BT Business Total Broadband hotspots. No indication was given of the normal cost of accessing the service.
