Finnish airline Finnair Plc (OMX Helsinki:FIA1S) said on Tuesday (25 November) that it is updating its cost-cutting programme, initiated in June, for its cargo companies.

The aim of the programme is to save at least EUR4m within cargo operations, the company said. As part of the programme, Finnair Cargo Oy and Finnair Cargo Terminal Operations Oy will initiate personnel negotiations in order to cut personnel costs. The planned efficiency and restructuring measures may, when implemented, mean a reduction of an estimated 71 jobs during 2009.

In addition, both cargo companies are planning temporary lay-offs affecting an estimated total of 300 employees.

Finnair, established in 1923, operates a route network of 50 international destinations and 15 domestic destinations with a fleet of 67 aircraft.
