Travelport GDS, a provider of global distribution systems and the operator of the Worldspan and Galileo brands, announced on 16 October the appointment of Olaf Gueldner as managing director of its newly formed Europe and Brazil region.
He will have responsibility for growing the company's overall presence in the region and maximising the growth opportunities that Travelport GDS has identified in the emerging economies of Russia and Eastern Europe.

Gueldner has previously held a number of senior positions both within and outside of the travel industry including director of Marketing, Partnership and Leisure Sales for Avis in EMEA and Asia as well as senior consultant for Bain & Company.
The Galileo and the Worldspan brands provide real-time travel information and booking capabilities to on-line and off-line travel agencies in over 145 countries. Travelport GDS also provides marketing and other critical data to the industry and IT services and software offering reservations, related software and services management to the world's leading airlines. Travelport GDS is a division of Travelport, a service provider to the travel industry.
