Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE:ALU) (Euronext Paris:ALU), a network technologies company, announced today (21 October) that it has signed a four year deal with Dutch life sciences and materials sciences company Royal DSM NV to overhaul its global voice communications network and create a secure high-speed IP network for DSM facilities in Europe, Asia and South America.

According to Alcatel-Lucent, DSM's new China campus in Shanghai, which comprises all Shanghai offices of DSM (China) Ltd Holdings and several business groups and the R&D labs of DSM in China, has already been upgraded with Alcatel-Lucent's voice network solution.
The solution will be managed by Alcatel-Lucent for DSM. Employees across the globe will share common interfaces and functionality, while DSM will also benefit through a pay per user model for services and the assurance of a flexible growth path for deployment of advanced applications. Managed services include a centralised helpdesk with support in key languages, potentially including Mandarin.
No financial details of the contract were disclosed.
