Intellicheck Mobilisa Inc (AMEX: IDN), a developer of wireless technology and identity systems, reported on 2 October that its Floating Area Network (FAN) technology has been successfully demonstrated to the US Navy.

Intellicheck Mobilisa's FAN established high-speed computer communications between ships in the Pacific Ocean during the Navy's annual exercise Trident Warrior 2008. FAN successfully conducted a number of testing and evaluation scenarios over a 10-day period, including the transfer of large computer files wirelessly between ships at speeds faster than satellite-enabled systems.

FAN allows naval ships to send e-mails/messages, data files, chat and video teleconference wirelessly with ships in a battle group, Intellicheck Mobilisa said.
