NEC Corporation, a provider of Internet, broadband network and enterprise business solutions, announced on Friday (29 August) that it has received the WiMAX Forum Certified seal of approval for its base station and PC card, part of the company's 2.5GHz WiMAX product portfolio.

According to the company, each newly certified product has faced a suite of interoperability tests, which the WiMAX Forum sets out to ensure that different vendor systems work seamlessly with one another.

Certification of this NEC portfolio component validates the company's long term commitment to WiMAX and its role in delivering mobile and wireless data networks on a global scale, the company said.

No financial details were disclosed.
